| A History of Protecting Workers
For over 100 years, union construction trades have built our
nation’s capital region. Local unions organized workers
to provide fair wages and job safety, create funds to support
members’ health care and pensions and train new generations
of skilled construction trades workers. Workers who continue
our tradition of creating and restoring the buildings that
make our community and nation proud of Washington D.C.
Our Commitment to the Future
The Washington D.C. Building and Construction
Trades Council is part of this hundred-year commitment to
workers in our community. The Council’s mission is to
continue the fight for fairness and safety on the job, promote
the use of union labor, and ensure that quality apprenticeship
programs continue to train the next generations of skilled
building trades workers.
