A History of Protecting Workers

For over 100 years, union construction trades have built our nation’s capital region. Local unions organized workers to provide fair wages and job safety, create funds to support members’ health care and pensions and train new generations of skilled construction trades workers. Workers who continue our tradition of creating and restoring the buildings that make our community and nation proud of Washington D.C.

The Washington D.C. Building and Construction Trades Council is part of this hundred-year commitment to workers in our community. The Council’s mission is to continue the fight for fairness and safety on the job, promote the use of union labor, and ensure that quality apprenticeship programs continue to train the next generations of skilled building trades workers.
